To make Sweetened Condensed Milk from Powdered Milk
You'll need:
* 1 cup Powdered Milk
* 1 cup Icing Sugar Or ground granulated sugar
* 2 tablespoon Butter (melted)
* 2 drops vanilla flavor(optional)
* 1 cup Water
Preparation
* Boil the water until it's hot and begins to bubble a bit. Then pour into a blender.
*Add the powdered milk, sugar, flavor and melted butter and blend together until all the ingredients are well incorporated.
* Pour into a sterilized glass jar or any container of choice, leave to cool a bit and store in the fridge.
Use for any recipe that calls for sweetened condensed milk.
To make Sweetened Condensed Milk from Whole Milk
You'll need
* 1 liter whole milk
* 1 cup Icing Sugar Or granulated sugar
* 2 tablespoon Butter (melted)
* 2 drops vanilla flavor(optional)
Preparation
* Pour the milk and sugar into a deep pan or heavy-bottomed pot, bring to a boil over medium heat(it should not bubble).
* As it begins to boil, reduce the heat to low and let the milk simmer until the quantity in the pot reduces to half it's original size, this takes about 2 hours on low heat.
* Stir the milk from time to time, so that it does not form a white coat at the top.
Stirring frequently will also prevent it from burning and changing in color.
* After about 2 hours, you'll notice the milk is thicker. Then add the butter and keep on stirring for 20 seconds, until the butter is well incorporated.
Put off the heat and leave to cool before transferring into a sterilized air tight container. Store in the fridge and enjoy.
